Online Identity
Jan. 5th, 2013 08:46 pmMy one major resolution type thing that I plan on doing in the new year is developing an actual online identity, specifically one that feels more like me as opposed to one filtered to make myself employable. I still think it is unfair for employers to ask to log into your Facebook account as part of the interview, but I do think that it is fine for them to look at all of your public internet posts and use that information to determine if they want you to be a part of their company. I am starting pretty wide in terms of the number of services with social network managers I am using. DW, G+, Facebook, Youtube, Vimeo, AIM, skype, lastFM, twitter, quora, reddit, and linkedin as well as a few niche forums perhaps. It will be interesting to see which ones I think I have time for or are productive enough that I make time for them.
